Message from the Executive Director

A message from Dan Pompei:

Hello to all TCN members. I am Dan Pompei, the new Executive Director for Trust Counselors Network, Inc.

Working with charitable and non-profit organizations has always been a passion for me. I have spent many years working with the Civil Air Patrol, the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force (USAF). The CAP was created on December 1st, 1941 as a way to supplement America's military operations. Since 1946, the CAP has been a non-profit organization with a benevolent character, and is dedicated to education and national service. It is a volunteer organization with over 57,000 members nationwide and overseas.

America has a deep and long tradition of philanthropy. History records that the United States was about philanthropy before it was a nation. Volunteers called it "begging" when, in 1643, Harvard conducted what is believed to be our first recorded fund drive. It raised 500 pounds and was thought a "great success." The long rich history of philanthropy in America is now so deeply rooted in our national psyche it is as though "giving generously" even "at the office" has become infused in the American genetic code.

Today, organizations such as TCN have brought philanthropy to a “grassroots” level, making charitable donations, family foundations and planned giving services available to every American. I am extremely proud and honored to be working with this wonderful organization.

Sincerely,

Dan_Pompei.gif
